There have been heroesand then there have been guys who deflect off knife-wielding robbers using zero but an apple.

Police say the 58-year-old plant in the shave above was stabbed in the torso during the altercation. Fortunately, he was rught away taken to the sanatorium where he was stitched up as well as released.

The incident occurred in the none-too-pleasant area of the Bronx around East 143rd street. Both would-be robbers remain at large.
